Nigerians In A Hurry To See Results Of Anti-corruption War – Gowon

Former head of state, Gen Yakubu Gowon, has said that Nigerians are in a hurry to see the results of the current anti-corruption fight of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

He made the comment while speaking with State House correspondents after a private meeting with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday.

Gowon said he was at the Presidential Villa to pay homage to the president as they had not met for some time, and also inform him that he’ll be going out of the country on vacation.

“And of course, we discussed the general affairs of the country, the problems of the country, his fight against corruption, and all the efforts that he is making to deal with it and, of course, the impatience of the public to see results of the fight – which have yet to be found since people have not been fully prosecuted yet,” he stated.

Gowon also expressed support for Buhari’s determination to rid the country of corruption which, according to him, had set back the country.“These are some of the issues we talked about.

One appreciates his efforts and determination to rid the country of corruption, which is one of the problems that have held the country down and has created serious setbacks to the country, both nationally and internationally,” he said.

Gowon said he also spoke with the president on the current situation about the Chibok girls and the efforts the government was making to rescue them.

The former head of state contended that the government needed to get credible information about the where abouts of the girls and also identify those that would assist the government to achieve that.
