NDLEA Seizes 96.39 Kilograms Of Hard Drugs In A/Ibom

The Akwa Ibom Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said that it impounded 96.39 kilograms of hard drugs from the suspects in the state between January and July this year.

The agency’s public relations officer (PRO), Mrs Maria Ilugbuhi, who made the disclosure in Uyo, saidthat 184 suspected drug offenders were also apprehended.

According to the agency image maker, 154 of the suspects were males, 30 females while six of them had been convicted.

Ilugbuhi added that during the period, the command also seized assorted hard drugs including cocaine, heroin, cannabis sativa and psychotropic substance from the suspects.

She attributed the success of the agency in arresting the suspects to the good working relationship and synergy between it and other security agencies in thestate.

The PRO, however, said that inadequate funding and logistics were some of the challenges the command faced.

She urged the people to endeavor to provide the agency with useful information on drug dealers and users for prompt action.
