Governor Ganduje Offers Automatic Scholarship To Girl Who Scored All AsIn WAEC

Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has offered automatic scholarship to an indigene of the state, Fa’iza Sani Abubakar, for her excellent performance in the just released Senior Secondary School WAEC examinations.

Fa’iza, who hails from Bakin Zuwo, in Kano Municipal area, scored distinctions (A 1), in all the nine subjects she sat for, at Olumawu College, Wuse 2, Abuja.A statement by Salihu Tanko Yakasai, DG Media and Communications to the Kano State governor said Governor Ganduje explained thatthe scholarship is meant to cover her undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate degrees, at any university of her choice across the world.

“This gesture is to acknowledge merit and to especially encourage girl-child education in ourstate”, the governor maintained, pointing out that the state government is making arrangements to ensure that gifted children are given opportunity to fully exploit their potentials.

According to the governor, “we are happy that this child has performed very well and I want toassure that we will continue to encourage our people to achieve in their chosen endeavors and bring honor to their families, the state and the nation at large”.

He enjoined parents to encourage their childrento strive for academic and moral distinction to enable them excel in life.

In her remarks, Fa’iza, who thanked the state government for its magnanimity disclosed that she intends to read Medicine, as her ambition is to become a medical doctor.

Already, she has been offered admission by at least seven universities in the United Kingdom and one university in Egypt, to study.
